The rain in Venice
The road to Venice is beautiful, and by road I mean trains and by beautiful I mean they take a really long time. I had a reservation for an hostel in town, but instead of arriving at 5pm as planned I arrived at 5am. I tried to check in anyway because after traveling the entire night I was exhausted and didn't care if I had to pay for a night and check out only four hours later.
No luck in that department though.
Unable to check in I headed back to the train station. There were a lot of people outside the train station who must not have been able to check into their hostels either because they were lined up sleeping outside. I decided to join the people and was able to catch anew hours of sleep before a security guard came by and told me to leave (at least that's what I think he said, maybe he was just complimenting my shoes by kicking them).
It was late enough that I could go to the hostel and book my room for the next night, but too early to check in. They did let me put my things in the luggage room, though. Still exhausted I wandered around a bit until I found a park and located a somewhat secluded bench. I got several hours of sleep there on that bench until it was late enough to go check in to the hostel.
I tried to sleep at the hostel as well, but the other occupants (a couple girls from England) came in and started watching TV.
I spent the rest of the day dealing with the wifi situation, so I could figure out my travel plans and book my hostels a few days out. But that is an ordeal I will save for another entry.
