More Venice

Okay I'm back from my trip now, but I only managed to post half the adventure on my blog before returning.  So I will attempt to complete it within the next little while (ambiguous commitment = no commitment at all!) while I can still remember most things.  Sorry about the photos - some of them are cropping weird.  I will post the full collection somewhere soon and post a link.

Last we heard on our Epic adventure I was in Venice dealing with WiFi issues.  I never did get it all sorted out and eventually just gave up.  No sense spending any more time of my vacation dealing with incompetent network admins who don't speak english.

After a trip to the internet cafe (two trips actually, I didn't bring my passport the first time) I met up with my room mates for some "maxi pizza."  A maxi pizza is basically a comically large wagon wheel sized pizza.  As with just about any kind of pizza, it was delicious.  We hung out and walked around Venice and got rained on a lot.

The next day I bought a boat-bus pass so I could explore some of the city.  I just got on the boat bus and kept going until I saw something interesting.  I managed to find St. Mark's basilica and some more pizza.  St. Mark's was very cool.  It was free to get in but I paid the money to go up to the top so I could look out on the square there.  It was a pretty amazing view of Venice.

I could see a man in the square feeding pigeons.  They were coming from all over and swarming around him.  At one point they were all over him on his arms and head and on his kid as well.  I apparently didn't learn my lesson because later at a train station I fed a bird that was walking around in front of me and suddenly I was dealing with twenty birds who all wanted food.  I would throw a fry and one would gobble it up and swallow it long-ways completely whole.  Then they'd all come swarming around me for more.  I'll save you the trouble of learning on your own: don't feed the birds.
